With the Portland Observatory currently open for the annual holiday tradition ~ Lantern Tours, it provides a great time to highlight another staff member dedicated solely to the tower’s operations!
After a move to Maine in 2016 with her husband Bill, Peg Puza joined the Greater Portland Landmarks’ staff as a Site Manager of the Portland Observatory. Site Managers (and the crew of Docents) are dedicated to introducing visitors from all over the world to Portland's maritime history and all the city has to offer today.
In addition to her duties at the Observatory, Peg has enjoyed volunteering with the Portland History Docents program, the Tate House Museum, Victoria Mansion, the Longfellow House, and Spirits Alive at Eastern Cemetery. Prior to moving to Maine, she worked in roles at several museums and historic sites in both Massachusetts and North Carolina.
When asked what she loves about Portland, Peg answers enthusiastically - “EVERYTHING - from its rich history to its natural beauty and opportunity for outdoor adventures that change throughout the year.”
Peg and Bill have two grown sons, and currently reside in Buxton with their precious pug, Angus Tyng.
