Greater Portland Landmarks concludes its Portland by Land, Portland by Sea: How Transportation Shapes a City exhibit and lecture series with an engaging panel discussion about the future of transportation in Portland. With ongoing regional conversations about bicycle lanes and trail systems, parking minimums, roadway reductions, and bus and train circulation, join our panel of experts to discuss what’s coming down the road in Portland’s transportation future and learn how to advocate for your vision for Portland.
Following a panel discussion and moderated Q&A, there will be a reception with ample opportunity to continue the conversation with the panelists and other attendees.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS
Kristina Egan has served as Executive Director of the Greater Portland Council of Governments (GPCOG) since 2016, providing vision and strategy for regional initiatives spanning climate, energy, housing, public policy, smart growth, and transportation.
She previously served as Director of Transportation for Massachusetts, a statewide coalition advocating for innovative and sustainable transportation policies,g and before that as Director of the South Coast Rail project for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. She was the first director of the Massachusetts Smart Growth Alliance and also served as a Freeport Town Councilor.
Kristina holds a master’s degree in international economics and international relations from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a Bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University.
Kevin Kraft, AICP, is the Director of the City of Portland Department of Planning and Urban Development. Noted for his distinguished leadership and expertise in urban planning, genuine care for his team, and love for the city of Portland. Kevin led the first major rewrite of Portland’s land-use code and zoning map in more than 50 years and is currently leading several consequential transportation-related projects, including the redesign of Franklin Street and Portland's first comprehensive transportation plan since the early 1990s.
He previously held senior planner roles with the New York City Department of City Planning and the Mercer County, NJ planning department.
He holds a Master of Science in City and Regional Planning from the Pratt Institute and a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from Rutgers University Camden.
Andrew Zarro is the Executive Director of the Bicycle Coalition of Maine (BCM), where he leads statewide efforts to make Maine a safer and more enjoyable place for cycling, walking, and rolling. Since stepping into the role in 2024, he has advanced BCM’s work across all 16 counties through a focus on safety, accessibility, and the everyday joy of active transportation.
Andrew previously served on the Portland City Council, where he championed transportation safety, housing, and climate action. He brings a collaborative, policy-driven approach to his work with municipalities, state agencies, and community partners.
He holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and serves as Active Transportation Chair of the PACTS Policy Committee. Andrew is a leading voice on Active Transportation in Maine and a frequent speaker on transportation, economic development and public health.
