Places in Progress

Preservation does not happen overnight and is the work of many dedicated groups and individuals. Some projects are in response to direct threats, such as those listed on our Places in Peril. Others are initiated by owners, concerned citizens, neighborhood groups, nonprofits, or the city itself to proactively protect places at risk. Below is a selection of places that are on their way to full preservation as a result of these advocates and their partnership with Greater Portland Landmarks. As we celebrate their progress, we look forward to eventually elevating them to our list of saved places.
