Step Inside a Landmark Transformed: A Sneak Peek at the Thomas B. Reed School

Go behind the doors of the former Thomas B. Reed School with Developers Collaborative and discover how a celebrated historic school has found remarkable new life.

Designed by Miller & Mayo in 1926 and expanded by Wadsworth & Boston in 1960, the building now houses eight apartments and the Children’s Odyssey center. Reimagined by Archetype Architects and brought to life by Developers Collaborative, the Reed School stands as an exemplary model of adaptive reuse, honoring a historic school’s legacy while serving the community in new ways. This exclusive tour is the perfect complement to the next program in our Temples of Knowledge series, From Classrooms to Community: New Lives for Historic Schools, on October 14 at 6:00 pm. See the transformation firsthand and join the conversation. We're offering a tour before the program and one the following day. Spaces are limited!

5 Walks Through Portland is a package of neighborhood walking tour brochures, tailor-made to be family friendly guides to the rich history and architecture of Portland Maine. Brochures cover the Old Port, Congress Street, India Street, State Street, and Munjoy Hill. Each brochure gives a brief history of the area, suggested walking route, and details to specific sites one will see along the way.
