1924 Tax Photos
Greater Portland Landmarks holds approximately 1,800 copy negatives of the 1924 City of Portland tax assessment photographs, which provide an essential source of information on the architectural details of many historic properties. GPL’s holdings include properties in historic districts, landmark buildings, and properties in the Coyle Park and Fessenden Park neighborhoods. Black and white prints can be ordered from the GPL negatives for a modest fee.
The complete set of original photographs, which includes all taxable properties in 1924, is housed in the Assessor’s Office at Portland’s City Hall, 389 Congress Street. Photocopies are available for a modest fee.
