Nathan Clifford SchoolThe Portland School Committee recently voted to close the 100-year-old Nathan Clifford Elementary School and build a new school elsewhere. Greater Portland Landmarks, along with Maine Preservation and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, commissioned the firm of Barba & Wheelock to provide a preliminary analysis of new construction vs. renovation of the school. The Portland City Council is scheduled to vote on the School Committee's recommendation in November, 2007 (due to a tied vote on October 15th).
