New Tour Time - 11 am on Mondays!
Mondays at 10 am and 11 am. from June 24th to October 14th. Tours begin at 1 India Street. Tour lasts approximately 90 minutes.
The Neighborhood Stories: Portland’s India Street Tour uncovers stories of Portland’s busiest 19th and early 20th century commercial center. The neighborhood has been a crossroad for Portland's workers, residents and travelers through the centuries. Home to immigrants, African Americans, and working people, the buildings and the stories reflect those influences. Thanks to a partnership with the Committee to Restore the Abyssinian the tour ends with an exclusive look inside the Abyssinian Meeting House, America's 3rd oldest African-American Meeting House.
Please note: no bathroom facilities are available on this walk.
Meet outside the Gorham Savings Bank Building, formerly, the Grand Trunk Railroad Offices.
