The Homes of Portland’s Golden Age Tour explores the area that, in the early 19th century was considered, “the most beautiful neighborhood in Portland.” A variation of our very first walking tour in 1965, this guided tour looks at the stately homes on High, Spring, State and Pleasant Streets which showcase Portland’s early prosperity through architecture. Known as the Spring Street Historic District, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.
