Through historic maps and images and recent research learn about historic Ferry Village
South Portland’s Ferry Village Neighborhood has been shaped by over 150 years of ship-building and the people who built their lives around the industry through World War II. Although shipbuilding diminished after the war, the neighborhood remains a popular residential area. Unsurprisingly waterfront areas along Front and High Streets are predicted to be susceptible to rising sea levels. Less well known is the potential for flooding deep within the neighborhood along Sawyer, School, and Stanford Streets.
Join Julie Larry, Director of Advocacy, to learn more about the history of the neighborhood and how sea-level rise will impact this historic place.
This event is FREE and open to the public. Registration is strongly encouraged. Space is limited. Thank you to the People’s Methodist Church for hosting us!
