Founded in 1831, Mount Auburn Cemetery is noted as America’s first garden cemetery, known for its beautiful grounds, its memorial buildings and sculptures, and its contributions to horticulture in the 19th century. This talk will explore the challenges and benefits of turning historic urban cemeteries into treasured urban green-spaces.

Dennis Collins is the Horticultural Curator for Mount Auburn Cemetery, a position he has held for the past 18 years after five years there as an arborist.  He holds a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts and a B.Sc. from the University of Edinburgh/Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh, Scotland.
