Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Workshop

Greater Portland Landmarks’ workshop series Energy Efficiency for Existing Buildings for the Portland Neighborhood Organizations is a useful informational series being presented by Chris Closs, Greater Portland Landmarks’s Field Representative and Peter Taggart, Principal, Taggart Construction.

The workshop is designed to assist building owners in older and historic neighborhoods of Portland in making their buildings more energy efficient while maintaining the historic character and elements of the building.

The workshop will provide specific techniques and efforts that reduce energy costs, discussion of strategies, and questions and answers. Chris Closs, GPL’s field representative and technical advisor, will lead the workshop. Peter Taggart, an expert in preservation of older homes and buildings will be available to answer questions. Workshop participants will receive handouts outlining specific energy efficiency techniques and how-tos, checklists and efficiency resources.

The program will also include information on Portland’s architectural styles and history, emphasizing the impact of a neighborhood’s architectural character as it relates to the historic significance of the city as a whole.

Please register in advance for this free program. This program is designed for residents and members of neighborhood organizations in the East Bayside and Munjoy Hill neighborhoods.
